Empowering Women in Engineering: Meshi’s Journey

Civil Engineer

Meshi was born in London and raised in Cameroon. Her journey into the world of science began in her childhood. She would playfully don the hat of an engineer alongside her father, a dedicated civil and structural engineer.

Meshi – Age 10

Fast forward to today. Meshi is a Chartered Civil Engineer and also an esteemed Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). She has over two decades of invaluable experience in the utility, water and resources sectors.

An experienced technical and project manager, who is also an innovator, has a diverse portfolio in infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects. This includes specialization in flood management and resilience, water and wastewater systems, drainage, and planning design services.

Meshi is a champion for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).

Dedicated to fostering inclusion in the workplace, Meshi works to attract diverse talent in engineering, sustainable design, and net-zero initiatives. She collaborates with schools and professional organisations, empowering girls through direct communication and strong representation.

By sharing her own experiences, she breaks down barriers and challenges misunderstandings. Meshi celebrates diversity, amplifies the voices of underrepresented groups, and cultivates an inclusive environment for all. Her story promotes understanding, encourages empathy, and connects communities, sparking essential conversations and driving meaningful change.

As a passionate STEM ambassador, Meshi is fiercely dedicated to championing Women in Engineering. She inspires Girls in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). She has collaborated with esteemed organisations. These include the Women’s Engineering Society (WES), the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), and Constructing Excellence NE. Meshi actively engages with schools, educational institutions, charities, and foundations. Her goal is to empower the next generation of female leaders in these vital fields.

Independent Consultant

Meshi has now firmly established himself as an independent consulting engineer, driving innovation in engineering and the built environment. She has a keen eye for detail and a passion for sustainable development. She is transforming ideas into tangible solutions. These solutions not only enhance efficiency but also contribute positively to our communities.

Meshi is also Co-Editor in Chief of the Civil Engineering Proceedings – Civil Engineering and chair of the national Fairness Inclusion and Respect (FIR) committee for the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Meshi is an inspiring public speaker, dynamic panelist, and engaging podcaster. She presently hosts The PGN podcast, where she leads discussions on crucial topics like flooding, climate resilience, and empowering communities. With a knack for delivering powerful messages, she has contributed to many professional conferences and events across the nation. Her ability to connect with people and spark meaningful conversations sets her apart in the field.
