Prioritising Breast Health

In the UK, the month of October holds significance not only for Black History Month and Menopause Awareness Day but also as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in the UK, affecting approximately 55,000 women and 400 men annually.

** Additionally, 7,000 individuals in the UK receive a diagnosis of DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ), which is an early stage of breast cancer, each year.**

Studies indicate that more than a third, specifically 39%, of women in the UK neglect to perform regular self-examinations of their breasts.

Increased awareness of breast health and cancer provides an opportunity to expand our knowledge about early detection, prevention strategies, and the latest research in this field.

1 in 7 women in the UK will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.

Recently, during my bra shopping excursion, I encountered a captivating display. Alongside making my purchase, I had the pleasure of engaging in an enlightening conversation with the store staff regarding the particular merchandise that piqued my interest.

It was all about this book – “Boobs – An Inspiring Journal of Creativity and Celebration”.

In honor of breast awareness month, they were promoting this publication dedicated to breast health and positivity. This book is truly remarkable for several reasons. Its focus is embracing and celebrating the beauty and uniqueness of our breasts from within.

“to anyone who has boobs, wants boobs or likes boobs”
